Dragoç, Shkoder – A serious event shocked the residents of the Dragoç area this morning, where 33-year-old Ramazan Mataj was found dead inside his car. According to sources, the victim was shot with Kalashnikov volleys by at least two suspected perpetrators, who ambushed him on the evening of January 4, 2025.

The incident was discovered around 07:15 by the residents, who notified the police after finding the dead body of the young man in the car. Mataj had multiple bullet wounds on his upper body.

Event details
Residents testified that they heard shots during the night, but they thought it was fireworks, due to the presence of a wedding bar in the area. The victim was not known as a problematic person neither by the police nor by the local community.
According to preliminary investigations, Mataj’s car was shot from both sides, suggesting the presence of at least two shooters. Unfortunately, the lack of security cameras in the area makes it difficult to identify the perpetrators. The police are examining the footage from the cameras at greater distances, but so far there is no concrete trace of the perpetrators.

Return from Belgium and unclear motives
Ramazan Mataj had returned to Albania about a year ago from Belgium, but the motives and circumstances of this event still remain unclear. Currently, the investigative group set up in cooperation with the Shkodra Prosecutor’s Office is working intensively to unravel the dynamics and motives of the assassination.
The police continue the checks and the collection of testimonies from the residents of the area. Any information may be valuable to the investigation.
