A violent clash occurred in the early hours of the morning in the village of Gjashte, Sarandë, where 12 people, including 4 off-duty police officers, were involved in a serious conflict involving the use of strong objects and firearms.
Event
The incident happened around 01:35. According to the sources, 4 police officers fired firearms during the conflict, while the others used strong objects. As a result of the collision, two people, brothers Enea and Albi Nexhipi, were injured and were sent to the hospital for medical assistance.
After treatment at the hospital, both were accompanied to the Saranda Police Station for further investigation.
Police Are Silent About Firearms
In the official announcement, the State Police mentioned the clash and the use of strong objects, but did not publicly acknowledge the fact that firearms were used in the conflict by the officers involved.
Official police statement: “On 02.01.2025, around 01:35, in the village of Gjashte, Sarandë, it is suspected that they were involved in a conflict for weak motives, using strong objects, between them and off-duty police officers. As a result of the conflict, citizens E.N. and A.N. were injured, who, after receiving medical help at the hospital, were accompanied to the Saranda Police Station for further action.”
Investigations
Currently, the investigative group and the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), under the direction of the Sarandë Prosecutor’s Office, are working to fully clarify the incident. The police escorted some of the people involved, including off-duty officers. Investigations are ongoing to identify and punish all those responsible.
The event has sparked many reactions, raising questions about the behavior of off-duty police officers and transparency in reporting such incidents.
